Madrid, March 2025. - After nearly two years of comprehensive renovation and an investment of €90 million, the historic Hotel Palace Madrid reopens its doors under the prestigious The Luxury Collection brand of Marriott International. This legendary hotel with 470 rooms has undergone a transformation that balances the recovery of its classic essence with the integration of the latest trends in luxury design and hospitality.
The renovation of Hotel Palace Madrid, now The Luxury Collection Hotel, Madrid, has been made possible thanks to the collaboration of a multidisciplinary team of experts in architecture, interior design, engineering, and procurement. Owned by Archer Hotel Capital B.V. and managed by Marriott Hotels, the project has been led by Ruiz-Larrea Arquitectura in directing and executing the construction, alongside Proskene - Conservation & Cultural Heritage. Project management has been in the hands of ARCADIS, while construction was carried out by Urcotex Constructora, Construcciones Ruesma S.A., CONSTRUCÍA/Grupo Construcía, and Fernández Molina.
In terms of interior design, Lázaro Rosa-Violán shaped the spaces, with the key contribution of CIDON Interior Design & Contract in planning, procurement, and execution of FF&E and OS&E, ensuring that each element aligned with the design vision. Additionally, the renovation included the participation of PGI Engineering & Consulting in engineering and specialists in carpentry such as Frapont S.A., MARTINEZ OTERO CONTRACT, and Carintec Madera S.L. (Grupo Carinbisa). Lighting was designed by Artec Studio and Intervento, while the historic glass was restored by J.M. Bonet Vitralls S.L..
CIDON Interior Design & Contract has played a key role in this ambitious project as Procurement Agent, managing the procurement of FF&E (Furniture, Fixtures & Equipment) and OS&E (Operating Supplies & Equipment), as well as logistics planning and supplier coordination to ensure flawless execution of the interior design. The challenge: transforming a Belle Époque symbol into a benchmark of contemporary luxury without losing its historical identity.
The project has been led in interior design by the renowned studio Lázaro Rosa-Violán, with architectural execution by Antonio Ruiz Larrea, while ownership was managed by the investment fund Archer Hotel Capital. CIDON worked closely with each of these stakeholders to turn the design vision into a tangible reality, ensuring that every piece of furniture, textile, lighting fixture, and decorative element reflected the essence of the hotel's new concept.
The redesign of Palace Madrid has involved a careful restoration of original elements, such as marble, stained glass, columns, and historic tapestries, combining them with contemporary furniture, textiles, and design pieces that bring freshness without losing the classic elegance that characterizes the hotel.
The result: a reinterpretation of timeless luxury, where the warmth of noble materials like wood and brass coexists with a sophisticated color palette in stone tones, deep blue, and burgundy, evoking the history and refinement of the building.
One of the greatest challenges of this transformation has been ensuring excellence in supplier selection, cost optimization, and logistics within tight deadlines. As Procurement Agent, CIDON managed the procurement of key furniture and decor pieces, ensuring they aligned with the design vision without compromising quality or delivery timelines.
"Our role in this project has been much more than supplying and installing furniture," explains CIDON’s Procurement Department Director, Águeda Cardeñoso. "We have worked closely with the design studio, proposing valuable solutions in materials and finishes that allowed us to optimize the budget without sacrificing quality. We also coordinated various national and international suppliers, ensuring that logistics and installation were executed seamlessly in a partially operational hotel during the renovation," she added.
The value engineering process carried out by CIDON allowed for cost optimization and improved functionality of the equipment, ensuring that each piece not only met aesthetic standards but also guaranteed durability and operability in a hotel of Palace’s magnitude.
Located in the heart of the UNESCO World Heritage site Paisaje de la Luz, the renovated The Palace, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Madrid, joins Marriott’s exclusive portfolio in Spain, alongside Santo Mauro (Madrid), Alfonso XIII (Seville), María Cristina (San Sebastián), Marqués de Riscal (Álava), and Castillo Hotel Son Vida (Mallorca).
With this reopening, the Palace not only regains its original splendor but also positions itself as a benchmark of contemporary luxury in the capital. For CIDON, this project reaffirms its expertise in high-level hotel equipment, consolidating its track record as a strategic partner of the main hotel chains and design studios in the industry.
"In every project, we seek balance, optimizing the budget without compromising quality or the essence of design. At Palace Madrid, efficient procurement management has been key to meeting the client’s economic expectations, guaranteeing an impeccable result through exhaustive quality control," concluded CIDON’s Project Manager, Candela López de los Mozos.
